it may provide some insulatation to actual earnings longer term. though i doubt it will be much - esp if iron ore starts rising. AUD is trading 85-87c atm and i doubt thats changing any time soon
regardless - AUD will provide zero protection to the share price - because professional investors wont wait to see what avg AUD/USD is or what the company profits are -
they sell first on the primary driver - ie the oil price direction - then wait to see if they want to buy back in when the smoke clears
STO is on a 20x pe multiple even after this morning's carnage - and long run avg is 10-12x.
it was on high pe because people thought gas prices were on an irresistible rise for next 20 years
thats not going to be a safe assumption.
STO is going to $8 or lower imo
