lunchalot, 'racism' is, a belief that one group (race, as in the word) is superior to others. Dislike, bigotry, xenophobia are all different words, with completely different meanings. I remember a few years ago, a caucasian footballer called a darker (is that alright?) footballer in the opposing side a "black c**t", he was taken to court and sued by the darker fella', the judge in the case condemmed what was said as 'racist'. My opinion here is, the only display of racism in this case was by the judge, in his seeing 'black' as being a derogatory term.
Discrimination will always take place, one obvious example is when you choose a partner (even in business), you like they, will have certain likes and dislikes, and your applying those to choice is discrimination.
I do feel a phobia against a certain religion nowadays, has been brought on by itself. Previous to the Sydney gang rapes, which were very racially based, people did not realise how much this group disliked others, the ensuing years threw up more cases internationally. The gathering (riot???) at Cronulla, which was just people saying, "we've had enough", was the last straw for those that were sick of being terrorised by a group that sees the world in a different light.
