A release in Europe would have cost significantly more, and it's a very very hard nut to crack - and importantly a fail there 1st up could have cost OBJ's future. Korea was chosen IMHO due to it being regarded as an "early adopter" consumer culture - ie : get the runs on the board, cash, and importantly consumer feedback to tune future campaigns. Not that is in the control of OBJ, but a great marketing approach for innovative products BTW. Moreover, if SKII fails to get traction and repeat sales there (consider turnover timeframes) - ALL other/future products could get reviewed and even shelved.
I am pro OBJ technology but regretably I see a distinct air of over-expectation. It can be a trap for both experienced and newbies alike, if they get too wrapped up and fail to critical review all available info regularly. GFC was a wake up to all to many. Perhaps folk could take a more tempered and considered approach to investing - and a bit of active reading skills could not go astray. Shooting from the hip, jibes, and potty-mouth posts are just indicative real knowledge levels, but you'll get that anywhere from those few, and maybe just folk in for ST gain.
As far as real world/textbooks comment - Semi-retired Ex-Regional Manger of an International Co. and quite comfortable thanks - but yep if I didn't continually update my education and knowledge then I could well be still "working for the the man".
Surf's up and tide turnned I'm off for a wave.

Why would they release an SK-II product in Europe first? I think you miss the point that Asia is the centre of the SK-II market which is to be expected given that it originated in Japan.
