I am confused as I have read a number of times that Silex was already above 40% efficency and was targeting 50%. By way of an example see the below taken from a presentation in July 2013:

"Current efficiency >40% (~ 2x efficiency of silicon cells, ~ 4x thin film cells) with roadmap to >50%"

Unless it is explained otherwise I think the journalist has simply not explored the Solar System technology and this may very well be SMH releasing a press release / advertorial without enough dilligence. I could be wrong too of course, just going off the announcements.
