Hi again Biggles and all,
I was looking at the Real Time Debt Clock of the USA as is my wont now and again.
It’s interesting to see Student Debt is speeding away out in front of credit card debt in the USA. I’m not sure if they are producing many Engineers, Scientists, Lawyers or Accountants with all this borrowed money, I hope for their sake they are. However; I suspect a lot of people are using these loans just to get by. $1.3 Trillion will produce many thousands of personal trainers and media studies experts, probably enough to keep MacDonald’s in burger flippers for many years to come.

I guess people in the USA feel they need a degree to get on any kind of job even for the basic $7.25 per hour rate. I am not a big fan of Michael Moore but he makes a fair point here. I can remember a time when an airline pilot was a fairly prestigious and well paid profession. Still as my guys in the workshop are currently working on an autonomous mine truck it won’t be long before the planes fly themselves (in fact they already can as you know.) Then I guess the ex-pilots will join in with the burger flippers, still always a little silver in every cloud: At least it will take the pressure off the man on the food stamp counter!

When the pilot’s jobs go the same way as bus conductors, bank tellers, car park attendants and mine haul truck drivers I guess they can always go and get a degree in personal training and then watch the student loans really speed up!
Funny old world we live in.
Cheers and very best regards: Andy
