manager is a hero, page-5

No disrespect to the manager. However he wasn't a hero. He attempted to be a hero, and as a result he got himself and another innocent victim killed.

He didn't know whether the highly trained police were planning something within the next few minutes or the next few hours. Maybe they were that close to a peaceful resolution.

I, under the same circumstances may have tried the same thing and yes, he will be a hero for saving many lives, however he may have done more harm than good.
