Yes, if only the young man had won the struggle with the perp.
But there will always be 'what ifs.'
For instance, what if the young man had never decided to challenge the perp for his gun, how would things be different now? Would he still be alive now ?

Or, what if the three other male hostages who, instead of bolting out the front door to safety, remained to help overpower the perp? How would things be different now?

These 'what if' scenarios will haunt their grieving families forever.
