Trendee, you just don't get it!

'Stopping the boats' has done NOTHING to stop the humanitarian crisis that are displacing an estimated 50 million people and especially throughout the Middle East. It has done nothing to address the more than one million deaths due to recent conflicts our involvement has exacerbated. Nor has it done anything positive to tackle the millions of refugees and asylum seekers those conflicts have generated.

'Stop the boats' is an opaque, clandestine operation to deny and to even abuse the human rights of vulnerable asylum seekers. It's purpose was the election of Tony Abbott's rotten government.

However, returning asylum seekers to countries from which they fled is reported to have led to their torture and even deaths. We've now learned of the appalling situation of unaccompanied minors on Nauru and even the death by alleged negligence to an asylum from septicaemia - matters for which Australia is now being pursued by the UN. So much for stopping boats, heh?
