@Justis Of course, I never said that property is like shares and totally opposite w.r.t. volatility, but investment cycles apply to all classes and property is no exception.
Once more - property is one of the most remarkable investment classes if bought at the right time.
I like gold for the same reason - real, hard asset like property. I prefer goldies right now because I believe that gold itself as an asset is unbelievably undervalued, and hence this ratio is that much more for goldies.
Everyone needs property and a roof over their head. While property bulls quote this as a factor in factor of higher prices, the reverse could happen. As more people become homeless / have less disposable income and savings, due to unaffordable housing, this could be one of the most serious voting issues going forward and several things artificially inflating property right now could disappear overnight (eg. negative gearing) which will actually send property crashing down.
