yes tusker,the collins with swedish diesels (volvo's ?) the japanese with something described as old french engines.
Seems to leave plenty of scope for improvement eg i wonder what diesels the germans use,gut feel says have to be good and have to be a plus israel buying them,also battery improvements anyway as you say it will be interesting what we end up with but imo its much better and viable to R&D on an operational sub and size required like the soryu than to start from scratch with a new larger collins yet to be even designed ,at least the germans have the design.
