So 9L
Seeing that you have chosen to respond to my post, I'll take your comments as if they are aimed at me (among others).
Firstly, are you also Fluffynymph? I did not reference you in my post, however, you are obviously happy and quick to go in to bat on behalf of her and others by justifying the great lengths YOU go to in separating Muslims from terrorists, so I guess you accept the label of "apologist" as justified by my use of that term in my earlier post - if you cared to carefully take in each bullet point and I suggested a smarter way to support one's argument is to:
- stop playing down the degree of Islamist terror - it is clearly dangerous and is causing a flow-on
- start to be seen to condemn the Islamist terror (strongly)
- admit that these are not isolated incidents
- admit that if the peace-loving muslim majority (and their supporters) generally dismiss those Islamists as not true Muslims (or say they cannot do anything to resolve the problem) and this is a meaningless exercise without collective and serious addressing of the issues
- admit that the issue needs to be directed at persons within the Islamic community and therefore that the Islamic community needs to be taken to task if they do not comply with approaches taken (unless they demonstrate that they are prepared to apply their own heavy approaches to put the problem back in its box)
9L, tell me what is wrong with the above expectations as opposed to the same, ad nauseum response of most Muslims are peace loving? I have commented that this latter point may well be true, and further simply responding and bracketing in a single dimension and justifying by passing off Islamist terror as 'lone wolf' and an disproportionate, is a copout apologist approach.
Now, if I may equally comment on your response:
"You all seem to..."
"the arguments you use are very wishy washy..."
"You guys rely on trying to confuse your opponents..."
9L, generalising? Remind you of the Pot and Kettle scenario that you sometimes reference?
I have indicated that the problem we face relates to the teachings and particularly many of the teachers of Islam - does that indicate to you that I believe no Muslims are peace loving, or that all Muslims are terrorists?
Come on, forget the pussyfooting around and focus on the problem and stop making the situation worse by encouraging a Muslim victim mentality. The sooner the "apologists" change tack and put their efforts into pointing the finger at the problem, the sooner we can all fight the battle together - the battle being to take strong and collective action against Islamists and their supporters.
