Dear Mr Gordon
We are not as far apart on this as you might imagine.
Firstly, the evidence for evolution is so abundant nowadays, and growing ever more so. So unequivocal is it, so beyond question that it is your obligatory responsibility to research properly and further via non-creationist sources. If you are going to share your religion with others then you must be educated without prejudice regarding evolution rather than parroting what somebody else believes. That is my challenge to you.
Secondly the 'HOW' is another matter altogether. Here we are on far more common ground.
Creationists say prove evolution has taken place and the fossil records are doing this admirably. Evolutionists are saying to Creationists, it's not up to us alone, we work day and night, we have millions of the best minds humanity has produced working on these proof for you, we know evolution is correct, now you also work to prove who is right, who is wrong, you prove Creation took place.
What do Creations then say or offer, Mr Gordon?
The Old Testament, a work some 3,000 plus years old. You don't think for one second that God may have been holding back some of the details until we developed the fundamentals of science? Or that science itself was the divine gift to shed more light on Genesis?
So your answer would be :-
“Let the water be filled with many kinds of living beings, and let the air be filled with birds.”
"Let the earth produce all kinds of animal life: domestic and wild, large and small”
“And now we will make human beings; they will be like us and resemble us."
In the fossil record there have been some 200 sub-species of platypus found, dozens of rhinoceros species found, dozens and dozens of species of horse, whales, birds, in fact millions upon millions of animals have gone extinct. Not to mention the dozens of hominids and many hundreds of dinosaurs found. Then we have all the creatures living today. You can't possibly believe that they all existed together and selectively died off because it would be a very clumsy Creator who produced animals knowing there was no space for them.
If you then say they did not all live together in the same time frame then we have evidence for a whole series of creation type events.
For Creations to construct some kind of chronology it is as though they are struggling in quicksand and every time they try to substantiate some new improbability the further they sink. Let it go Mr Gordon, your God is not diminished by evolution.
The 'HOW' - In some unknowable beginning the Supreme Spiritual Essence put into action a process we call Creation. Every detail of its unfoldment was known to the Being for it is outside of time. So the beginning and the end are meaningless concepts when compared to this Being. The end was in the beginning and the beginning is in the end.
Mater coalesced and formed stars, stars exploded and formed the heavy constituent elements required to produce habitable planets and then the bodies of all living creatures. What the first pre-life form or life form was we do not know. Whatever it was your God had implanted within its relatively simple structure the command to become every known living form.
Evolution emanating from this single organism was a command from your God, Mr Gordon. A command to change according to environmental circumstance, to change according to the challenges of existence, change according to the command to eventually develop a sentient being. Humanity. The universe is totally meaningless unless it is experienced by a sentient being.
And so the 'HOW' is via the command of your God to evolve according to the natural laws and ordinances laid down as fit and proper by your God, Mr Gordon.
To question evolution is very fit and proper, Mr Gordon. To then repudiate its truth after so many millions upon millions of man-hours of ardent research by the best minds on this planet who have revealed it to be in evidence is unworthy of you.
The scientist who sees evolution as a stand alone process without divine guidance is as equally as wrong as the religious type who champions the cause of Creation as literal from the pages of Genesis.
Now I ask you to be fare and just Mr Gordon. Do you not see some merit in what I say in light of an ocean of environmental evidence and our mutual love of a Supreme Spiritual Essence?
