I was just watching the families of our military attending a church service in Canberra and listening to what they were saying.

You see, the families of combatants are far more sensitive to their loved ones danger and what their children are doing in the name of their country than those who seek to mobilise sentiment by manipulating nationalism and holding the troops up as heroes.

It would be wrong to represent the families' views which must cover a wide spectrum, but some at least are prepared to say they're not happy about their children being put in harm's way carrying out aggression.
