Melbourne Water did do a short test to check all the pumps worked and to see water flowed over the divide and down to Sugarloaf reservoir.
They did not need the few thousand litres they stole from the Goulburn R. irrigation system, the salad bowl of Vic., but Labor and MelbWater made a huge PR deal/show about pumping a few gallons at the time.
So add this expensive white elephant gift from Bracks [a backup gift in case of a long drought? to appease his garden city Capital's resident ALP voters] to all the other $mega-million Vic. Labor gov'ts wastrel acts of economic sabotage this century and the tally is mind blowing.
