I'm not sure what the polling situation is in Newman's own seat, but his decision to stay in Ashgrove if he's in danger of losing it seems to be a pretty dopey piece of political grandstanding. Newman may have won the debate (I didn't see it), but he might not be Premier even if the LNP win. In an era where so much emphasis is placed on the leaders, it doesn't seem very bright for a party to go to an election not being able to guarantee their leader will be the premier if they win. His supposedly principled stand might cost his own side government.
