    "But this is non-cash impairment......"

    The $1,300,000,000 was real hard cash only a short time ago. The impairment recognises it will never be cash again. It's a formal recognition of a number of poor prior decisions. Financial results would suggest ARI haven't made many good decisions, across a number of businesses, over the past 5 years.
