For non-believing businesstypes a la Kraft etc etc ......their logic is clear.End of debate.
For believers , however , you can only wonder at the hyprocisy of worshipping Something of ultimate goodness , kindness etc etc , all the most compassionate highest qualities and yet actively support cruelty to animals.
Not just halal either, some Christian and Bhuddist countries in Asia have cock-fighting as a major 'recreation' / gambling activity.I had an East Timorise work colleague a while ago , very strict Catholic , but i couldn't convince him of the contradiction in his lifestyle when he went to his weekly( illegal ) cock-fights..I have seen what they do to dogs in Sth.Korea to make the meat more 'tender'. Unbelievable cruelty also. Just a couple of e.g's.
Their is something about the barbaric aspect of ego of the homo sapien that shames us.
If you are a believer , in whatever, do you honestly think that WE ( the only species , that can blow-up , over-populate , pollute, etc ...... this planet to extinction ) are so superiour to other species...?
We will drown in our own 'cleverness'. A clever monkey , too clever for it's own good.
