Well Alan it was folklore that the only people who ever liked Rudd were those who hadn't met him .Public servants in particular ,with the exception of Henry with whom Rudd colluded on just about everything, couldn't speak his name without almost vomitting.

I really don't know what it is with Abbott. He's also well liked by the majority of his colleagues yet I've never really heard friends of mine so vitriolic about a public figure . Admittedly most of those are leftist leaners but they've got it in for him like you wouldn't believe.

I don't place any great weight on the Senators to be honest . The Greens wouldn't agree with Abbott on the weather and the rest of them are frankly mentally challenged . They're completely subversive ,but that's politics I suppose . Windsor for instance got given everything under the sun for his electorate by Gillard ,good luck to him but he hated the Libs to start with and Oakshott was a rusted on leftie dreamer who was prepared to sell his own electorate down the tube for his 5 minutes of fame. The guy was delusional but others might disagree.

I really think Abbott just seems to engender something in opponents and the public that rubs them up the wrong way . For whatever reason he's not publicly popular ,that's a tough gig for a politician
