Yes that makes some sense and I don't doubt for a moment that DD's interests are aligned with the Company's. It's just that making a change like this costs time, money and energy, and I can't instantly see the reason for it.
So expanding Klogg's comment a bit, it's possible that DD wants to get the "bad" news out of the way now (i.e. the last 6 months will have some (perhaps greater than expected?) ED integration costs but not all the integration benefits) and then start with a clean slate as soon as possible. So on that basis he would be looking to present a good set of clean numbers in about a year from now with a CR early 2016?
I very much doubt that the SP would rise just on a 6-monthly set of integration-impacted results and a rosy forecast from DD.
One possibility - Nice but I think remote - is that he wants to pay a big quarterly dividend now but is worried that he can't continue to do so for future quarters. But paying a big "full year" dividend now would have some good impacts (1) increase analysts forecasts (2) pump up share price (3) reduce debt as he and others would participate in DRP. This could expedite a CR to be earlier in 2015.
By the way - and perhaps I should start a new thread for this - does anyone understand any direct or indirect currency impacts to DDR from a dramatically falling AUD? This time last year the AUD/USD rate was .90.
