Family love is a general term, your feeling for your spouse are not identical to your feelings for your children, or your feelings for your family as a whole. The 'love' that you feel for your friends may not be identical, or even close, to the feelings your feel for your wife or your family.
The word 'love' is being used as a blanket term for a wide range of emotional/mental states. The love someone feels for their partner, wife or husband, may be gradually eroded by time and events. Jealousy may destroy 'love' and resentment or hate formed instead.
