Further there is little deterrent effect with using the death penalty because the people who do drug running aren't making rational choices.
Often they are in some kind of desperate situation.
Also they can and do rehabilitate in jail and wake up to themselves. You are depriving them of this chance by killing them when they are no longer a threat to society.
So nothing in your argument withstands rational scrutiny.
