    OK....

    I am married
My wife is not yet at retirement age
    She does not work
    I get the "pension"
    $644 per fortnight.... yes... $644....
This has to feed both of us, yet a single pensioner gets over $100 more than me.
Upon asking Centrelink about me getting a married pension, I was told that I will have to wait till my wife was at retirement age.... OK, agree to that... so how can I get more income..... simple, was the Centrelink reply...... put your wife on Newstart.
I explained that she is not in the position of chasing work, as we both travel 24/7, and she has arthritis in both hands anyway.......The answer was that she should apply for an invalid pension, and I apply for a carers supplement...... No, sorry... I have more morals than that !!!
All I ask for is to at least get the single pension till my wife gets to retirement age, when we will then be entitled to a married pension.
I have a small investment portfolio that I set up with my small amount of super after selling up and decided to travel..... I keep cashing in on a regular basis, just to survive.... Maybe I should join in on the Welfare rorts and follow Centrelinks advice.
