good explanation Tibbs but the downside is that some options have a short shelf life and many times expire worthless. Options are a great plan if everything goes to plan but a disaster otherwise.
unless you are confident of what you are doing the fpo's are usually a better bet because of unlimited time value to overcome downturns, and it's often very difficult to trade out of non performing options.
I know many will say they've made heaps out of options but they are not for everyone.
if you are gonna go down the option path it's probably best to have a mix of fully paids and options - just in case. After all, if you're not prepared to buy the fpo's why would you buy the options?
