I realise jantimot that insurance of any kind is optional in Australia...it should be mandatory on all motor vehicles in this country as it is in most of the USA. It should be L.A.W Law.

It will never happen though, because the insurers themselves do not wish a TPPD cover to be mandatory because they say it would reduce the pool of vehicle owners prepared to pay for full comprehensive insurance....which is crap because you can still purchase a stand alone TPPD cover.
The premium is not a whole lot less than a full comp policy though and that encourages people to buy the full cover.

Either way, TPPD should be compulsory just as the bodily injury cover within your rego payment is compulsory.

Yes, maybe she should have called the Police and waited an hour for them to turn up...I doubt the dopey cyclist would have waited around, and I doubt very much he would have given his name and address so the Coppers could pay him a visit!
Some sort of ID on pushbikes is well over due...not only for ID'ing when crashing into cars, but also when they hit pedestrians on side walks and then pedal off with the vertical finger...but it would be the old story, no one gives a damn and no one has the time to give a damn...
