consider this... most "waste" generate by humanity currently are just throw away, buried, etc... comparatively little is "recycled."
so unless the recycling process can be guaranteed to be cheaper than digging up processing and making"new stuff, U mining may yet have life in it. that said, if nuclear waste is not reprocessed and reused as much as possible, there the overhanging problem of stockpiling and storage of such dangerous material for eons.
