A bad share is like a gangrenous toe. It is best to remove it as quickly as possible before it does any further damage.
The loss has already occurred. It is a 100% real loss not a theoretical 'paper' loss.
The only time to hold a loss making share is when the entire industry has suffered and you are 100% certain it will rebound (eg bank shares in 2008).
