Debt is the "ecstacy" of the nation to feed the status anxiety habit.
Reliance on the government and banks makes us soft and indolent. We are fat in body and in mind. We're just bloated lawn grubs living off the grass of the nanny state.
I watched with despair the aftermath of Larry and the reaction of "some" people. "Where is the government?" "I dont have money to buy food" then the other side of the coin with doubling of prices buy some "entrepaneurs" and rents skyrocketing
Appalling Health situation - your more likely to get a litigaton case through court than get off a hospital waiting list. Obstetricians pay over $100,000 yearly in insurance and we bleat that we cant get one. Health care is an human right as long as we can sue them.
Education. Taught what to learn, not how to think comes to mind. But then again we need battery humans to do the menial tasks as our bureacracy increases. I wonder why our great minds go offshore to be replaced by fee-payng foreigners?

Sorry but I just lament the decaying "get in there, boots an all" quintessential aussie attitude that I was once proud of that is sadly lacking in the "me" generation of today
