I would have thought the time for a take-over was past. The sentiment towards the company has improved significantly, even if this is not reflected in the price yet. Management has got the house in order (it would appear) and the tailwinds are all positive (aussie dollar and likely increase in US bond yields). I doubt this is fully priced in to the share price, but any take-over would have to be at a significant premium.
As I have said before, it will take management a long time to get back all of the respect they once had, but QBE cannot be considered low hanging fruit any more.
Can't see anyone in Australia taking it over, so maybe the low Aussie dollar will help OS company take it over.
I think it is all talk, probably to pump the price in the short term. As a long term investor, I am looking to QBE to go back to the days of 10% annual returns over the next 5 years. If the share price is back to all time highs in 5 years I will still be happy.
Couldn't care less about take-overs.
