a symptom of our declining standards!

As you all know I had problems with my rubber bumpers on the back of my calc. I then had trouble with an eraser that seemed to absorb pencil and make the page smudgy, worse than it was before I started trying to erase my error.

Well, if that’s not enough, then you’re simply not going to believe this.

For ten minutes I tried to sharpen my grey lead pencil. Every time I got it just about right, and whilst the pencil was still in the sharpener ….. “clip” and the lead broke, and broke, and broke.

At this stage in my investigations, I’m not sure whether it is the fault of the sharpener (maybe the blade was screwed in at an angle), or it could be faulty and split (not to mention sub-standard) timber of the pencil, or the quality of the lead.

I’ll use all combinations and let you know my findings.

Thanks to all those who emailed me about my problems with the eraser and calculator rubber bumpers.
