The vibration phenomenon known as strumming is the greatest risk faced by subsea cables at marine energy sites, according to research by the European Marine Energy Centre and the Crown Estate.
The Subsea Cable Lifecycle Study investigated how lines installed at EMEC test sites in Orkney have been performing so that lessons could be passed on to the wider industry on how best to plan and manage cabling for wave and tidal projects.
