LAS VEGAS (AP) - A New Hampshire man is $8 million richer after lining up three symbols to win a Megabucks slot machine jackpot at the Orleans Hotel/Casino.

John Ward of New Market, N.H., said he had been feeling lucky Wednesday night and decided to devote part of an earlier $250 jackpot to playing Megabucks.

A regular visitor to Las Vegas, Ward is an avid poker player who participated in last year's World Series of Poker. He said he might build a warehouse for the chain of dollar stores he owns.

The Megabucks jackpot, which is the second of the year, will be paid in annual installments.

Not everyone has been so lucky at the slot machines this week. Yesterday the State Line Casino in Wendover reported Kirk Tolman won $10,000 playing Megabucks. It turns out the 22- year-old galvanized steel worker from Pleasant Grove, Utah was busy talking to his friend and didn't notice what machine he was playing.

In fact, when the three "Megabucks" symbols all locked in to place on the payline and the bells started ringing, Tolman had no idea of what he'd won. It was then that he and his friends noticed that he'd only played two coins instead of the required three. It was an $8 million mistake.
