Hi Duke, thanks for that I was hoping you would join in, don't know if you remember but we have had some discussions over in the graphite section some time ago, I was asking some pretty dumb questions which you took the time to answer, so hope you don't mind if I ask a few more.
So melting point of ones graphite is important,Are there any other factors in determining what makes good expandable graphite and how do they relate to what KNL, if there are could you just briefly outline them for us, I know you could absolutely blow us away with your technical knowledge but I will struggle to comprehend it.
I note the following post from @tobyjack (post Id 14958867) re heat resistant gaskets
"An interesting read on Frenzelit Werke GmbH's novaphit® expanded pure graphite used in high pressure gaskets. Note this para.......
"Oxidation resistance is the most important quality feature of graphite gaskets The efficiency of the graphite is defined essentially by its oxidation resistance. The common assumption that graphite quality is determined solely by a specific degree of purity is not correct. On the contrary: it is essential to determine the oxidation properties of the graphite exactly, because even graphite films of the highest purity level may not be resistant enough to oxidation. Thanks to careful selection of the basic graphite and 100% incoming goods checks of this and other properties, only highquality graphite is used in the novaphit® SSTC/SSTCTRD 401, novaphit® EXTRA and novaphit® VS production process"
http://www.frenzelit.com/file/116_novaphit_PROFESSIONAL_TECHNOLGY_e.pdf
What determines "Oxidation resistance" and again how does this relate to what KNL have, are we likely to have stuff with superior "Oxidation resistance"
Anyway hope you can help, I am not in any rush, so just when you have a spare minute or two or three.
Thanks
