I have a work fund as well as a SMSF and the work fund has done well but the SMSF has far out performed it.
We started our fund with $150,000 in 2000 but it when the fund got to $300,000 that it when it really started to perform ,you can start with lower amounts if you have a plan to build it up and the audit and tax assessments may only cost around $2500 so it can still be worth while.
SMSF are a great estate planning tool but you do have to keep working on them and unless you have an interest in wealth creation it is not worth looking at.
Its a choice poverty or living the dream.
