    Wafflehead,

    thank you for your post,

my comment, "I never have a battle of wits with someone unarmed" was a joke, and DBT9 got the joke as he replied I should have been a comedian

    you say,

The answer to one of those questions might then be that certain aspects of the universe are profoundly beyond the logic of science.

    I say,

the answer to plenty of questions about aspects of the universe are beyond the logic of science,

    simple questions like,

if you take the following two facts about gravity into account

    http://www.astro.umass.edu/~arny/jg_esc_veltut.html
    • The gravitational force between two objects depends on their masses, being larger for larger masses.
    • The gravitational force between two objects depends on their separation, being weaker the farther apart the objects are
then every planet in the solar system should be in size order proportionate to their distance from the sun, or the gravity wouldn't work properly,

    e.g,

every planet past Jupiter should have more mass than Jupiter as the gravity from the sun gets weaker the further out you go, but we know that's simply not the case, why?

scientist will say that it's momentum, but using the laws of gravity, Neptune and Pluto would simply drift away in space,

    cheers
