if you do some research you may find that 'older' immigrants have always been allowed in. we have a 100 point entry
system for legal applicants,( not the boat people) age is certainly a criteria along with skill and where you want to live/work
older people and the non skilled can gain entry by having enough money to employ others by starting a business
you might just find your Chinese gent owns half a dozen restaurants employing a whole lot of Aussies and providing you cheap meals in the bargain
