Basically at issue is that you think other people need to be instructed to work: No (but some do)

and you don't believe there are deserving poor, No (there are many, but not all who claim they are)

or you think that we need to get a bureaucrat to decide who is a deserving poor and who is not Always been the case

. But then who decides if we have a deserving or a capable bureaucrat, The voters

and anyway who pays his wage? You and me. Well, me anyway

I've told you my problem with UBI. It will be abused. Thoroughly. Many (not the majority) people will give up work, or just not enter the workforce. Why would they? If you had had experience of working on the factory floor, or out with sewer crews, or down a coal mine (I don't know if we have many u/g mines in Oz any more) you'd be able to spot them a mile off. But worse would be the disincentive for the young to not enter the workforce at all. Many (probably the majority) would embrace it the way it is intended, at least at the beginning until they see how it is being abused, and then they'll become upset because they are doing the right thing while others are renting six to a house and living off the UBI.

    It's a human nature issue.
