Once upon a time, long term employees were valued by companies. My company gave anniversary awards at 5, 10, 15, 20 etc. If the public service gives to them at 15 years, where is the problem?
Nowdays, if you work for a company for more than 2 years you are classified as deadwood, no ambition etc etc. This is the culture that companies are promoting. Short term, pay the top millions for attending function, screw the average worker to the bone, collect your bonuses and then move on to the next sucker.
Oze, I suggest that if you are being screwed, you at least know who is screwing you. No disrespect, but it appears to me that you are being sucked in by the marketing mantra in your view of public servants. Employees who lack ambition and capabilities exist in private industry also. The difference is that in the public service these people are weeded out and put on phone duties. These are the people you normally speak to if you have a query and hence, our view of public servants.
Of course, you are right about the dead wood public servant of the mad monk and incompetent so called treasures etc.
