Bruceyg, your comment "... how do they feel betrayed when its not happening to them and not part of their own community? ..." and that of Tony Abbott wherein he referred to Aborigines living in remote communities as "lifestyle choices" is a measure of the extent to which some people do not understand Aborigines, their culture and their link to the land:

Instead of talking at Aborigines and telling them what's best for them Abbott promised to sit down and listen to them. His actions demonstrate that he understood nothing, respected no-one and learnt even less from the photo opportunities and media stunts that define his interactions with Aborigines.
