Wow, what a day.
CBA actually upping savings deposit rates on a day the RBA drops is the move that got me, now why would a bank feel the need to do that?
Yield pigs dropping $12 of capital to enjoy a $2 fully franked dividend...the smell of smoked bacon everywhere here. Sadly it's probably a lot of pensioners (and my super fund) who were encouraged to indulge in this blind yield hunt in recent months.
But I shouldn't get too cocky until I ask an important question, how much of my savings are government-guaranteed in my CBA saver account? What's the maximum these days?
