"If first we come to recognise that "God is love" (1 John 4:8), and we also realise He knows what is in our best interest we should not hesitate to learn & pray for help in doing God's will.
“I, Jehovah, am your God, The One teaching you to benefit yourself, The One guiding you in the way you should walk. - Isaiah 48:17."

And so what would you say to the countless people, including innocent children, who die because of starvation and preventable diseases in spite of a multitude of prayers to God to intervene?

Sorry, but telling them that this is part of God's will is, in my opinion, lying and cruel.

We really need a better response.

Telling them that all will be well at some future date when your God finally intervenes just carries no weight. People who are dying and starving need help now, and should not be expected to cling to some fairy tale about the future which shows no sign of getting any better.

If I sound angry about this it is because I am. I have seen first hand the impact of giving people false hope - it's simply manipulation of the vulnerable.
