I may be grasping at straws, but I agree with you're suggestion that Alan was hinting. At approx. 6 min 15 sec into the call, Alan stated "Some additional customer relationships may also be formalized in the near future with a number expected to include a balance of exclusivity fees, upfront fees and milestone-based payments."

If you read the above statement it's pretty straightforward, nothing remarkable. However, if you listen to the audio, Alan clearly emphasized "near" future. While the call was as circumspect as we have come to expect, my immediate thought was that Alan had tipped his hand a bit.

Just conjecture, but that was my perception.
