re: labour left slams expansion of uranium mining what these old labor hacks are trying to do is conflate two issues - though they don't have enough brain cells between them to know what they are actually saying.

    1. Australia selling uranium

    2. Australia going to nuclear power.

Now those labor thickkies need to understand that selling it and using it are two different things, and the Greens know that. They are talking now about the nuclear alternative because the threat posed by the storage of materials with a toxic half life of a hundred thousand years is, in fact, less of an imminent threat than a rising sea level and devastating agricultural damage which looks certain to happen in the next 50 years unless CO2 is taken care of.

Also, at some point in the future, Thorium reactors as yet not commercial except on a very small scale, are likely to replace Uranium reactors. Thorium is not itself fissionable so does need Uranium to kick start it, but has decay products which only need storing for a few hundred years! think about that. Also there is approx eight times more Thorium on the planet than uranium. All good.

You can forget about fusion reactors, it's a pipe dream.

As for SMM. Once the labour half wits get rolled by everyone else imagine what SMM would do if it got the go ahead. 'Course, that's a big word "if".

U-mining in Queensland would hardly affect its coal exports, that's all for coking coal destined for Asian steel mills. So what the labor half wits in Queensland have ever been worried about I really wouldn't know. Mind you this is a state where many still think daylight saving fades your curtains...... and you can hear the banjos playing faintly in the hills.......
