I have a friend in his 70's and his wife was admitted to a nursing home due to an illness, not life threatening but debilitating, so he had to cover her bond with his super, but now also has to live on a whole lot less, they were self funded. It's easy to call so-called couples with 800K-1M wealthy, but that's if your fit and healthy, watch out if you or your partner get sick, and income from this hardly covers the bills let alone do something. It sounds so simple just to blame those filthy rich pensioners.
