LONDON (AFX) - Leading shares remained higher in midmorning deals with fresh gains in commodity prices once again fuelling oil and mining issues, dealers said.
By 10.11 am, the FTSE 100 (news) index was 40.1 points to the better at 6,063.2, off earlier highs of 6,070.5, while the broader indices were also higher.
Volume was moderate, with 493.4 mln shares changing hands in 68,325 deals.
Crude oil prices added 1.82 usd to close at 73.70 usd per barrel in US trade last night, after reaching 73.85 usd amid continuing jitters over Iran and supply problems in Nigeria as well as over Bolivia's announcement that it is nationalising its energy industry.
In London, the oil and mining sectors once again led the way, with firm commodity prices providing another boost."
