There are endless gullible fools in the world dave but not many who really believe the US is pursuing terrorism any more. US public opinion is now getting behind the pursuit of US interests and the terrorists are forgotten. The attack on WTC has nicely facilitated US imperialism and created the possibility to pursue the Project for the New American Century.
It's a big risk for the US because world opinion is turning against them. The opposition to US ambitions will be more economic than military and could involve trade boycotts of US product and abandonment of the US currency as the unit of global trade. If the administration continues to use military force and threat of military force to protect its interests and steps up CIA covert and overt interference in foreign domestic politics then the US will become more widely opposed in Europe Asia and South America. This might be sustainable if the US economy was in competent hands and growing strongly but that's not the case is it?
