Here's my view - the Trading Halt is in place prior to any news / presentations, so any halt is not in place to "minimise the damage". The announcement says that trading will resume Monday morning, so in fact that is not much time to digest any news of some controversial issue. I would expect any controversial news to be accompanied by a trading halt Monday and/or Tuesday to give markets time to digest.
So therefore, my conclusion is that the Trading Halt is only in place to stop any excessive trading/shorting activity prior to the conference (i.e. to protect shareholders from uninformed trading). Of course I could be wrong.
Perhaps it is in place to stop TeTeTe losing money by opening up a large short position......
