rl,
The article is garbage. And he does qualify himself as being unqualified to discuss the results.
2 points to make:
1) The SIRFLOX study hasn't presented any Overall Survival (OS) data. The only data that has been released is PFS data; one for the liver only and secondly, an overall PFS dataset incorporating all tumour types throughout the whole body.
2) PFS is the time it takes for the tumour to be classified to a "progressive" state ... it has nothing to do whatsoever with "quality of life" or "manageability of the patient's condition". It's a simple calculation based on the time it takes for a tumour to move from a "stable" to "progressive" state.
What I really really would love to see is a breakdown of the overall PFS dataset, Sirtex has revealed the data for the liver only (which were expectantly positive), but what about the rest??? what's there to hide??? cough it up.
