Thanks for a smart arse answer to a genuine question . The intent of my post was to address the problem , not continue a whinge fest about the realities of life.
Reality - your kids can't afford a house near where they work .
Solution - find work where they can afford to live or increase their earnings in order buy a house closer to work .
Now , maybe there isn't the work in their field of expertise everywhere ? That may mean a change of career . Maybe their choice of career isn't sustainable ? There's plenty of uni graduates that are working in different fields compared to what they studied . It isn't ideal but what are their choices ? Continue the life sucking grind for the next 40 years and have their parent complain about it on hc ?
What do they do for a job and what options do they have ?
It seems that the property thread has become a haven for wingers . The reality is that property in some areas is expensive and priced beyond people's expectations .
The good thing is that there are plenty of posters who have some fair dinkum life experience that they are offering for free for those willing to listen . I wish I had access to this kind of advice when I started out without having to reinvent the wheel myself .
