Milanese I'll give you my reckon on the Original Glencore Rumour and how it started.
There are 3 central characters- ChinALCO, RIO and Glencore

Chinalco a SOE in Aluminium, a major Shareholder in RIO, who are very disgruntled with RIO share price since Chinalco bought in. Chinalco in it's own right is in trouble Financially with its own operation as well.

Now ChinALCO has as a Subsidiary ChinELCO which has a SYR connection so in some ways the Parent Alco of ielco also is SYR connected. Hope you follow so far, milanese.

Anyway Chinalco is peeved with RIO. So Glencore, a renowned bottom feeding corporate raider of BROWN FIELDS never green, approaches Chinalco proposing a takeover of RIO.
RIO, milanese was the TakeOver target of Glencore and the RIO takeover in July 2014 was the Glencore Play. There's authentication articles published in August 2014 about the RIO/Glencore 'proposition' .There may even be a RIO directors "dismissed' news

but I just can't be bothered digging them up for you DYOR and you'll find that in July 2014 Glencore approached Chinalco RIO's Major Substantial Holder to discuss a RIO takeover.

So how did SYR get latched in? Well IMO there was a leak about Glencore approaching Chinalco.
Over drinks and brain storming and farting a link between ChinALCO and it's sub division ChinIELCO
was made [the SYR connection]
Then the farting continued by linking Glencore to Vanadium. ChinIELCO also has a Vanadium connection thru SYRAH

so do you get the picture? Drinks are being partaken, brain storming/farting are being lit up in a plausible rumour

Glencore "controls the vanadium market',
ChinAlco is Chinelco SYR connection to Vanadium
so let's rumour Glencore wants to TakeOver SYR for it's Vanadium for what $2Billion first offer.

A great JOKE. Glencore was sniffing around RIO. Glencore may never have even Heard of Balama Vanadium.
In fact Milanese it can't be said or implied that Tolga was in on this drinking brain storming and brain farting session. Could just be Journalist Guff. Tolga doing the Sgt Schultz to some journalist hero Hogan.

anyhow best to move on from it as an issue.
