It is not so much that UK conservatives have an aversion to onshore wind, rather the opposite, that the first part of their national renewable energy plan has been successfully completed so that the sunset clause was brought forward. Wind can now stand on its own feet. ROCs multipliers for wind had already been reduced about two years ago.
If and when wave energy is successfully established then the ROCs at 5 times normal tariff will also disappear. (Quite some years to go.) These were always intended to be temporary incentive plans. It means sensible long term planning in the UK, and for which the Australian government has a complete deficiency.
